Grand Opening: Meet the Magic Behind Papel Arcano

✨ Exciting News! ✨

Papel Arcano is officially open! Visit us at our location in Elmhurst, Illinois📍during our soft opening starting October 28th, 2024. We're also happy to announce a special grand opening on November 6th, 2024!

As we count down the days to the grand opening of Papel Arcano, we want to take a moment to introduce you to the passionate person behind the magic: Jack Saucedo. Jack is the visionary founder of Papel Arcano, and their love for stationery, creativity, and community is what makes this store truly unique. 🖋️✨

Who Is Jack Saucedo?
Jack Saucedo is a proud Hispanic/Latine, LGBTQ+ entrepreneur with a lifelong passion for beautiful stationery and the stories that each item holds. Growing up, Jack always believed in the power of creativity and self-expression. Whether it was through journaling, sketching, or collecting beautiful paper goods, they found a deep connection to the art of storytelling through the simple act of putting pen to paper.

For Jack, starting Papel Arcano is about more than just selling products; it’s about creating a space where people can explore their creativity, discover unique art from independent artists, and find joy in the little things—like the perfect notebook or a smooth, beautifully designed pen. ✨ This passion comes through in every detail of the store.

The Inspiration Behind Papel Arcano
So, what inspired Jack to open Papel Arcano? The idea came from Jack’s desire to bring culturally rich stationery to the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, where they felt there was a lack of stores offering high-quality, Japanese, Korean, and independent artist-designed products, as well as unique and specialty stationery supplies. Even more, they wanted to create a place where people from all backgrounds—especially LGBTQ+ and Hispanic/Latine communities—could feel welcome, seen, and inspired.

“I wanted to create a space where everyone can find a piece of magic, whether it's a journal that helps them process their thoughts or a pen that makes them feel excited to write again,” Jack says. “Stationery has always been a way for me to express myself, and I hope that Papel Arcano can be that for others, too.”

A Store With a Mission
Jack’s vision for Papel Arcano is deeply rooted in their own experiences. They’ve curated a selection of unique products that celebrate creativity, cultural heritage, and self-expression. As a Latine-owned business, Jack has made it a priority to highlight local Hispanic/Latine artists and LGBTQ+ creators, giving them a platform to share their art through the stationery and paper goods sold in the store.

“Representation matters,” Jack says. “As a kid, I didn’t often see myself reflected in the spaces where I shopped. With Papel Arcano, I want to create a place where people from all walks of life feel at home. It’s important for me to show that creativity and art belong to everyone, regardless of background.”

What Jack Loves Most About Stationery
Jack’s personal stationery collection is filled with beautifully crafted Japanese planners, colorful washi tapes, and notebooks from independent artists. They have a particular soft spot for Hobonichi planners, which they describe as the perfect balance of functionality and artistic expression. “There’s just something about a fresh, blank page that feels like endless possibilities,” Jack says with a smile.

When Jack isn’t running the shop or curating new products, you can find them journaling at a local café, exploring art galleries in Chicago, or connecting with other creatives. They believe that art and storytelling are powerful ways to build community, and they’re excited to bring that spirit into Papel Arcano.

A Warm Welcome to the Papel Arcano Community
Jack Saucedo has poured their heart into every detail of Papel Arcano, from the carefully chosen journaling supplies to the welcoming atmosphere of the store - stars twinkle in the hand-painted murals and a cozy journaling corner awaits stationery lovers. They can’t wait to share this magical space with the local community and meet everyone who walks through the doors.

Whether you’re a student looking for the perfect planner to keep track of your busy schedule, an artist seeking inspiration, or just someone who loves the feel of quality paper, Jack is ready to help you find the stationery that speaks to you. Jack’s message to everyone in the stationery community is simple:
“Thank you for believing in this dream with me. I can’t wait to see how Papel Arcano will grow, and I hope that everyone who visits feels a little bit of the magic that inspired me to create this space.”
